The long awaited Triennial of the Philippine general Council of the Assemblies of God has finally come! Around 1,420 people from all around the Philippines has gathered to Word of Hope Family Christian Church to participate in the 4 day event and be equipped, encourage and ready to go to declare His praise in the islands! The event which started in April 24 and ended on the 27th had numerous training sessions in the day and topped-off with an evening rally which was graced by extraordinary movers and shakers in the ministry.
Rev. Ivan Powar, the A/G District Superintendent and General Council Executive from New Delhi India, North India spoke on the first night and spoke of the different giants that we face on a daily basis although out our lives. And if you have positioned yourself where God wants you to be, any giant you face is sure to fall because the Lord will give you the strength to overcome giants of any shape, form or size. It was a good reminder that although giants we face are huge, the power of our God is bigger.
“Get out of your box!” This was the call that resounded on the 2nd night. A call that was started by Bishop Dr. Dwayne Pickett of New Jerusalem Church in Jackson, Mississippi. The box of a grasshopper mentality is a place where you as a child of Christ doesn’t and shouldn’t want to be. The message was a call to action for us to trust in the Lord to help us break free from the restraints of the box that we have allowed ourselves and others to be placed upon us. God’s light and purpose for our life cannot shine in the darkness of a grasshopper mentality which is why the Lord gave us the power to triumph over this.
“Undeserved Favor”, this it the very definition of grace. Grace that we extend as a gift in the act of giving. This was the focus of a powerful message by Dr James Marocco, the Pastor of King’s Cathedral, Maui. It was a message that resounded to the spirit of everyone who heard the message and definitely ignited the spiritual fire within to serve with a new and more powerful passion! After he spoke on the anointing of generosity, a special offering was made and a total of one million one hundred sixty eight thousand pesos was collected! Along with this, the offering included a number of foreign currency bills, 5 men’s watches, a few earrings, a pendant and 2 wallets!
Later on, together with Rev Ivan Powar and Bishop Dwayne, led the prayer for the newly and duly elected officials of the PGCAG. Namely:
