PGCAG Damayan: A response to typhoon Pablo

Greetings!

You may be among those who were shocked on the news about typhoon ‘Pablo’ which made a landfall at 4am and by 11 am on the same day, the sun was already shining, just to illuminate the devastation and havoc it created along its path.

According to reports Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental provinces are the worst hit. They were not prepared as ‘Pablo’ was not expected to turn towards their direction. Besides, these two provinces were rarely hit by any typhoon in the past. Sadly, these two worst-hit provinces is under the jurisdiction of the Southeastern Mindanao District Council (SEMDC) where Rev. Emmanuel Basilio is the District Superintendent. There are also reports of destroyed churches in Surigao Sur, Agusan and Misamis Oriental provinces. One Pastor in Surigao Sur reported that they were even preparing for their Thanksgiving Sunday this weekend but they have to cancel the event because they don’t have a church building anymore. We are still waiting reports from Negros Oriental, Siquijor, Bohol and southern Negros Occidental provinces. The reports so far maybe staggering but we still have a lot to be thankful of. We are reminded by the words of Horatio Spafford that says, “whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, ‘it is well, it is well with my soul’…”

We have activities going on right now as a council. We are also waiting for specific ground assessment from SEMDC and other districts. We have little amount to begin with as donations have already began coming in. We are appealing to you for monetary donations for our ‘Brethren’ in these affected areas. You may send your cash or check donations to PGCAG Damayan.

Account Name: Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God
Account Number: 002190003290
Bank name: Unionbank
Bank branch: West Avenue – Baler Branch, Quezon City

Just send an SMS to this number 09328860604 and please don’t forget to mention the amount deposited and your name (if it’s okay) so that we will be able to track and properly account your donation/s.

We discourage ‘in kinds’ donation as logistics is very challenging with the damaged infrastructures in the affected provinces.

Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity. God bless you richly.

In Him,
Jeremiah Balbuena
