Letter from the General Superintendent

928

April 12, 2016

To all P.G.C.A.G. Constituents

Dear Brethren,

Warm Christian greetings!

We thank God for His mercy, grace and favor!  We have learned that the Court of Appeals have made a decision on March 21, 2016 favoring us – The Petitioners.  Here is an excerpt of that ruling:

“WHEREFORE, premises considered, the petition is GRANTED The Decision dated July 16, 2014 of the Regional Trial Court of Valenzuela City, Branch 75 in Civil Cases No. 239-V-11 and 7-V-12 is hereby REVERSED and SET ASIDE.   In lieu thereof, another is entered ordering the following:

  1. The lifting of the suspension of Rev. Sobrepeña and his assumption as Acting General Superintendent/President as valid;
  1. The removal of Rev. Calusay and Rev. Suico as GeneralSuperintendent/President and General Secretary, respectively, as valid;
  2. The removal of Rev. Calusay and Rev. Suico as members of the Board of Trustees as null and void;
  3. The Triennial Meeting and election called by Rev. Sobrepeña as valid;
  4. The elected members of the Board of Trustees in the April 16-19, 2012 Triennial Membership Meeting are authorized to act for and on behalf of the Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God (PGCAG) and to exercise all acts of ownership or administration with respect to the funds and properties of the PGCAG, including being a signatory to the bank accounts of PGCAG.

SO ORDERED.”

It is clear from that court ruling that the tenure of Rev. Calusay and Rev. Suico as national officers of PGCAG was terminated on January 25, 2012.  As a consequence of the Special PGCAG Triennial Meeting on April 16-19, 2012  with the election of new National Leaders and new members of the Board of Trustees, that their term as members of the BOT has been terminated.  Also, the holding of the Triennial Convention in April 2015 at the Mall of Asia and the elections of their National Officers are invalid. Thus, with this decision of the C.A., reversing and setting aside the decision of the RTC (lower court), we are now charged to “exercise all acts of ownership or administration with respect to the funds and properties of the PGCAG….”

Due to this Court Ruling which, according to our Legal Counsel, is immediately executory, Revs. Calusay and Suico, and all elected and appointed officers from the National, District and Sectional levels are rendered null and void or INVALID.

Therefore, all credential holders:  Ordained Ministers, Licentiates, Exhorters, etc., WHO WISH to renew with us must do so on or before May 31st, 2016 – the deadline for submission of renewals.

To all who desire to renew their credentials, each individual must go to their respective District and submit a brief ‘Letter of Intent’—(stating your desire to join us) and to completely fill out a PGCAG Renewal form.  Those whose renewals are endorsed by the District Execom and validated by the GenCil Credentials Committee may participate in the future elections of officers.

The Lord willing, our National Leadership will decide and announce a special PGCAG Convention and Election of Officers  after May 31st.

It is my sincere prayer that the conflict that divides us will soon cease and peace will prevail whether as “together” or separately for those who decide to be on their own or go with a different organization.

Now brethren, may “the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.  Amen.”  2 Cor. 13:14.

Sincerely in Christ,

DAVID A. SOBREPEÑA

General Superintendent/President, PGCAG
